ShopIOM was set up - as part of a Department of Economic Development initiative - by the Isle of Man Government in order to assist local retailers to capitalise on the burgeoning opportunities presented by eCommerce.
The Government had come to recognise the importance of nurturing and supporting the island's independent retail sector, aiming to provide residents and visitors to our beautiful island - as well as those from further afield - with a varied and interesting shopping experience, whilst helping provide valuable jobs and adding to the vibrant culture of our towns and villages through sustainable economic development. In December 2011, 3 Legs Ltd took over responsibility for running and developing the ShopIOM portal under licence from the Isle of Man Government.
ShopIOM provides local independent businesses with free listings within its retailer directory, with options to expand to Enhanced or Platinum listings, which offer greater flexibility and detail. These listings provide customers with useful information about businesses, such as their location and products sold or services offered, enabling them to reach more prospective customers locally and - potentially - globally.
